| | | "More Than a Number" comes to the ATHM | | "More Than a Number" opens at the American Textile History Museum The story of the survivors of the mass genocide of the "killing fields" of Cambodia expressed through the powerful and inspirational images of its people. As hundreds of thousands of Cambodians escaped the country, they lived in holding centers and refugee camps until they were accepted into a third country. Upon leaving the refugee camps, they were identified through "transit" or "T" number photos. These transit photos - symbolizing the refugees' first glimpse of hope for their future - are an eerie reminder of the photographs taken by the Khmer Rouge of S-21 prisoners, which served as the foundation for Rachel Faller's painted portraits on rough silk. Exhibit features works by Khmer artists Chanthou Oeur and Yary Livan. Free with paid admission to the Museum.
