Revolving Museum Party ~ Nov 21

The Revolving Museum Hosts: Home is Where the Art Is!

House-warming party and tour of the museum's new home at Western Avenue
Studios in Lowell.

On Saturday, November 21st from 7-10:30PM The Revolving Museum is hosting a
house warming party, Home is Where the Art Is!, at their new location at 122
Western Avenue. Everyone is invited to learn more about the museum's youth
programs at this special event that includes an evening of music, food and
fun. The festivities include a fashion art auction, music and live
performances, along with light refreshments and a cash bar. Tours of the
new facilities will be offered throughout the night.

Home Is Where the Art Is! introduces everyone to the museum's new location
with a fundraiser and festive party. Admission is free for kids under 16;
$10 for museum members, students and artists; and $25 donation for all
others. All proceeds from the event support the museum's community art and
education programs. Tickets may be purchased over the phone at

evening is a very unique fashion accessories show and auction. The
Vanguardian Art Fashion group lead by the museum's Art and Education
Director Diana Coluntino, will be auctioning off their new line of beautiful
hats and bags created as part of its line of accessories made of recycled
fabrics and materials. These new designs launched this fall will be sold in
local outlets.

Musical guests include Josh Beetler and The Big Sway. Josh Beetler's guitar
music strives for musical variety and expression. He has performed in groups
as diverse as jazz big bands, metal, funk bands, cover bands, blues/rock
groups, and solo acoustic performances. Check out his music at

evening will conclude with a musical performance that is guaranteed to get
you up dancing! The Big Sway comprised of guitarist Tim Zucco, bassist Joe
MacFazden, and Drummer Skye Mazuroski is a local three piece funk, punk, and

A special performance by FreeVerse! will introduce guests to the Spoken Word
Poetry of the city of Lowell. FreeVerse recently partnered with The
Revolving Museum and is holding after school sessions to teach teens to
write about their feelings and experiences so that they can have the courage
to be heard. There will be a performance by one of the lead instructors as
well as students currently in the program.

Lowell Launches "Buy Art" Campaign .  Organized by the Cultural Organization of Lowell (COOL) and local arts organizations and galleries, Lowell's exciting upcoming Buy Art Campaign aims to make the process easier and more fun for all involved by introducing potential buyers to the local art opportunities in Lowell. Lowell's Buy Art Campaign will offer tours of galleries and studios, meetings with art liaisons trained in helping patrons and businesses buy art, and seminars on the value of buying local art for your home or place of business. Film Screening: "At Home in Utopia".  Thursday, November 19 at 7 PM, Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center 246 Market Street.   Free admission!  What does it take to get housing that's good for our children? What does it take to build a community where we want to live? Does it take a movement? During the 1920s, thousands of immigrant factory workers managed to build cooperative apartment houses that they owned and ran themselves. When they were hit by the Great Depression, they fought alongside others to win the social safety net that we are now in danger of losing. "At Home in Utopia" tells their story. CITY MANAGER'S SUMMIT SERIES FOLLOW UP YOU SPOKE & WE LISTENED.  The following has begun and will be ongoing to completion - estimated 6-8 weeks. The streets impacted include Middle, Palmer, Shattuck, Central, Market, Prescott. Work includes: 
Cobblestone repairs on Middle and Palmer Streets 
Installation of new crosswalks that are ADA compliant 
Installation of new handicapped ramps that are ADA compliant 
Removal of the granite rosette at Market/Central/Prescott with new pavement and crosswalks 
New crosswalks will be outlined with reused 16 inch wide granite slabs and the 8 foot interior will be smooth concrete with a scoring pattern similar to sidewalks
Construction will impact parking on the section of street where work is underway. This will allow us to retain vehicle and pedestrian traffic at all times. Parking will be restored on weekends and when work is complete. Work will be phased to reduce the inconvenience and disruption to residents and businesses. If any street closings are needed to complete work, advance notice will be provided. The contractor will do his best to complete work timely and with minimal disruption and inconvenience. We appreciate your cooperation during this process which will result in an improved historic district streetscape and enhanced pedestrian experience for all.
