iSHOP Lowell 2010: Buy Now, Win Later!  
Win an iPod Touch, a season pass to the Lowell Summer Music Series, or a new Apple iPad.   The City of Lowell, under the Division of Planning and Development - Office of Economic Development, is initiating a shopping sweepstakes to expose people to the attractive variety of offerings available in downtown and to encourage additional foot traffic and visitation to these retail and restaurant businesses. The sweepstakes will officially run from February 21, 2010 to May 7, 2010 and will be conducted in the following manner:   Spend $25 at a downtown retail or restaurant business and enter to win in a weekly drawing.  The sweepstakes will occur over an 8-week period from February 21 to April 16; grand prize drawing on May 7.  Weekly prizes are either an iPod Touch or a season pass to the Lowell Summer Music Series (the prize will alternate each week); grand prize is an iPad.  Ballot boxes and entry forms will be made available at downtown businesses for easy submission.  Additional information, as well as rules and regulations, available on www.lowell.org .

"Under Great White Northern Lights" at the Boott Cotton Mills Event Center, 115 John Street, Lowell. Music fans, the live concert film experience you've been waiting for is coming to Lowell! See alt-blues superduo The White Stripes in their newly released documentary "Under Great White Northern Lights,"an intimate film chronicling their 2007 tour through Canada and culminating in their 10th anniversary show in Nova Scotia. The film captures intimate moments of the duo both on and off stage as they travel through some of the most remote parts of the northern Yukon Territory. Along the way, they have casual conversations about their ten years together, fire cannons, and play some of their biggest songs together on stage, and the cameras are there to capture every waking moment. American Textile History Museum,  491 Dutton St.More Than a Number. April 17 - July 25. The story of the survivors of the mass genocide of the "killing fields" of Cambodia expressed through the powerful and inspirational images of its people. Ashundreds of thousands of Cambodians escaped the country, they were admitted to refugee camps and identified through "transit" or "T" number photos. These transit photos - symbolizing the refugees' first glimpse of hope for their future through acceptance into another country - are the poignant foundation of Remember, a series of S-21 prisoners painted on rough silk by Rachel Faller. "The Skin Quilt Project" at the New England Quilt Museum, 18 Shattuck Street, Lowell. Special guest: Director Lauren Cross. Don't miss the Lowell premiere of thenewly completed documentary "The Skin Quilt Project." Directed by educator, writer, and activist Lauren Cross (who will make a guest appearance at the screening), this remarkable film poignantly and openly discusses the misconceptions of gender and skin color in terms of African-American quilting and the history of textile arts. The quilters featured in the film speak of the influence of the African-American quilting tradition in encouraging an appreciation for African-American cultural heritage.
