The 3rd Annual Lowell Film Festival: April 8 - 10
"Hollywood and the Great Depression: 10-cent Entertainment in Difficult Times"
Come see the films the nation watched during Hollywood's "Golden Age" of the 1930's, a time when cinema was larger than life and humor, drama, and big budget musicals soothed the country's depression-era turmoil. Opening night festivities include a spotlight on Lowell's own Bette Davis with a special screening of "Jezebel." The weekend lineup includes screenings of Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," "The Grapes of Wrath," and late-night showings of James Whale's horror classics "Frankenstein" and "Bride of Frankenstein."

Join us for opening night!
The 3rd Annual Lowell Film Festival celebrates opening night on Thursday, April 8 at 5:30pm at Caffe Paradiso with special guests, music, and great food and drinks. Finish the evening with a 7pm screening of the opening night film, "Jezebel," starring Lowell's own Bette Davis!

Since its founding in 2003, "Exsultemus" has breathed new life into seldom-heard works of the Renaissance and Baroque, boasting a "strong, focused sound not unlike The Tallis Scholars" (Goldberg Magazine). Hailed as "a most homogeneous, transparent, and balanced vocal ensemble" that "has been gracing the Boston music scene with a good number of attractive programs each season" (Boston Musical Intelligencer), Exsultemus will bring its intimate and dynamic program of music of the Italian Baroque to the Moses Greeley Parker Lecture Series with a concert at St. Anne's Church in Lowell. Admission to the concert is free.

Fri., Mar. 12, 7pm, St. Anne's Church, 8 Kirk St., Lowell

Wings of Night Sky, Wings of Morning Light

Joy Harjo performs her one-woman play "Wings of Night Sky, Wings of Morning Light" with Grammy award-winning musician Larry Mitchell. Harjo tells us how trickster Rabbit creates a clay man, more out of whimsy than for any real purpose. But Rabbit's prank backfires. The clay man's insatiable hunger for game, women and all the riches of the Earth, soon throws the universe out of balance. For more information, visit www.joyharjo.com. Tickets: $10 (free with Merrimack I.D.) Both venues are wheelchair accessible.

March 23, 7pm, Rogers Center for the Arts, Merrimack College
To reserve tickets for the performance with Joy Harjo, contact the Women's and Gender Studies Program at 978-837-3530 x.5478 or email mackenzieg@merrimack.edu or colellan@merrimack.edu.

The story of the survivors of the mass genocide of the "killing fields" of Cambodia expressed through the powerful and inspirational images of its people. As hundreds of thousands of Cambodians escaped the country, they were admitted to refugee camps and identified through "transit" or "T" number photos. These transit photos - symbolizing the refugees' first glimpse of hope for their future through acceptance into another country - are the poignant foundation of "Remember," a series of S-21 prisoners painted on rough silk by Rachel Faller. The exhibit features works by Khmer artists Chanthou Oeur and Yary Livan. Free with paid admission to the Museum.

Exhibit runs April 17-July 25, American Textile History Museum, 491 Dutton St., Lowell
