In Lana Z Caplan’s breathtaking Sospira, nine women take a leap of faith and leave their cities, families, careers, friends and personal goals behind to follow love and fulfill their dreams while reinventing their lives along the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Stunning digital video and super8 footage weave together as the women’s voices carry the film, telling their stories of meeting lovers, the choices involved in moving to Italy, the expected and unexpected compromises, and the search for a comfortable balance. As the fantasy veneer of Mediterranean village life wears thin, and beauty recedes to inaccessibility, their own desires and senses of self are called into question, becoming mysterious even to themselves. Filmed entirely on location in Positano, Italy, Sospira had its World Premiere in 2011 at the Boston Center for the Arts and features a mesmerizing original score by Kevin Micka (aka Animal Hospital) and Chris Brokaw. (Film run time: 50 minutes)

ABOUT THE LOWELL FILM COLLABORATIVE
Founded by Lowell residents and all-around film buffs Brett & Suzz Cromwell, the Lowell Film Collaborative (LFC) is a grassroots organization dedicated to growing the burgeoning artistic community of Lowell, Massachusetts, by celebrating the art of moving pictures. Through film and video events, discussions, and film festivals, the LFC nurtures and supports cinematic artists and develops partnerships with local organizations. In addition to Brett & Suzz, the LFC has many supporters who are like-minded film enthusiasts with the same vision — Lowell’s OWN independent movie house!
