Dear Frank,

Executive Director Ray Riddick, Jr.

Spring is in the air! As we launch our 2012 newsletter, we're delighted to share good news stories about the people and projects that are changing lives in our community. If you have an inspired story about a donor or successful program, send it our way. We are excited to work collaboratively in 2012, so that together we can keep looking forward, giving back and making a difference in our region.

Celebrate Giving! in December
Keynote speaker David McGillivray

At GLCF's 15th annual Celebrate Giving! Event in December, we awarded over $100,000 to 24 area non-profits for

their work to stimulate our region's arts, education, youth development, family services and environment programs. Keynote speaker, world-class athlete and Boston Marathon organizer Dave McGillivray, inspired an audience of over 200 people in the power of philanthropy to give back and sustain our community.

High-Impact Philanthropy
UML Student at Catholic Charities Thanksgiving event

GLCF recently expanded the effort to help fight hunger and homelessness, awarding over $30,000 to seven community organizations. Thanks to the generous contributions from the Nashoba Valley Healthcare Fund, the Enterprise Bank Community Gifts Fund and the Mark and Elisia Saab Family Fund which made these gifts possible. Grants were awarded to Catholic Charities of the Merrimack Valley, St. Paul Soup Kitchen, Open Pantry of Greater Lowell, the Central Food Ministry, Loaves and Fishes Pantry, Inc., the Cor Unum Meal Center and the Merrimack Valley Food Bank.

$100,000 to Lowell Community Health Center

Rendering of LCHC building renovation

After a recent tour of the Health Center, Elisia and Mark Saab committed $100,000 to the Capital Campaign from the Saab Family Fund at GLCF. Thanks to the generosity of  donors like the Saabs, LCHC has raised $2.9 million over the past year. The Health Center's capital campaign began with grass roots support, including employee contributions which amounted to over $300,000, as well as on-line fundraising and social media awareness building through Facebook. LCHC is currently seeking a handful of Major Donors to close their campaign by reaching out to everyone who "Cares for Lowell" to support the initiative.
