Lowell Riverfest 2011: Culture Flows

& the Concord River Greenway Park

 

Riverfest 2011Join us for a festive exploration of the connections between Lowell's rivers and canals and the ethnic communities that call our city home.

 

Celebrate the unveiling of community murals made by Lowell students with artist Lineu Zadereski as well as his on-site original sculpture.

 

There will also be live music all day provided by 92.5 The River, including Farren Butcher, Inc. Plus, enjoy ethnic food, kid activities and more!

"Sip into Summer" Wine Tasting at Tutto Bene (www.tuttobenecellars.com  

Saturday, June 11th, stop by for a special tasting from 1 PM - 5 PM as part of Riverfest: Culture Flows.  The event will feature many rose wines from around the world and a crisp, refreshing white or two! Also coming in June:

June 25th, 1 PM - 4 PM: Hangtime Wines Tasting 

 

Author Event at Barnes & Noble Featuring Harvey Frommer 

On June 16th from 3 PM - 4:30 PM the Barnes & Noble in Downtown Lowell will host an author book reading and signing with veteran sports journalist Harvey Frommer. Frommer will read from Remembering Fenway Park: An Oral and Narrative History of the Boston Red Sox. For more information call 978-458-3939.

 

Cape Ann Fresh Catch Brings Local, Sustainable
Seafood to Lowell!

Cape Ann Fresh Catch, a Community Supported Fishery (CSF), will be joining this year's Lowell Farmer's Market!  Choose from whole fish or fillets and weekly or bi-weekly delivery to best suit your family's needs. Pick-up will be available every Friday from 4 - 6 PM at JFK Plaza. But, before CAFC can come to Lowell, at least 50 people must express an interest by emailing lowell@capeannfreshcatch.org. Don't wait! Sign-up now and enjoy wicked-fresh seafood all Summer long!

The Monkees Come to the LMA on June 15th(www.lowellauditorium.com

This year's African Cultural Festival will be held Saturday, June 18th from 9 AM - 7 PM at the Sampas Pavilion. Enjoy traditional foods, crafts, dancing, music and activities paying tribute to the City's diverse African community and culture. Families welcome and admission is FREE!   

 

Engage in Lowell's Green Scene During Sustainabilty Week (www.lowellsustainabilityweek.org)

June 20th - 25th, celebrate Lowell's accomplishments as a green community and help the City plan for a sustainable future. The week will showcase Climate Summer, a team of cyclists who spend the summer riding across New England learning about sustainability initiatives in the places they stop along the way.  Plus, enjoy other free activities and events celebrating sustainability throughout the City.
