This month the Center launched a new Facebook Page to create an online community for clients and others to interact. We'll be posting articles and happenings that are relevant to the many diverse businesses in the Greater Lowell and Merrimack Valley region. This week is National Small Business Week. The Center is hosting many workshops, including tonight's Office of Supplier Diversity workshop on how and why to become registered as a woman and/or minority owned business. The Office of Supplier Diversity, formerly the State Office of Minority and Women Business Assistance (SOMWBA) is an agency within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that helps promote the development of business enterprises owned and operated by minorities or women. Come attend this pre-certification workshop to learn more about both requirements for and the process of certifying your business as woman or minority-owned.

The Lawyers' Committee's Economic Justice Project, WilmerHale law firm, and the Lowell Small Business Assistance Center are hosting a free business legal workshop.  Business attorneys will give an overview of legal issues that many small businesses face.

unPanel: Expand Your Creative Enterprise

 

Monday June 6th, 6pm to 9pm

American Textile History Museum, 491 Dutton Street, Lowell

 

This event is being held by the Cultural Organization of Lowell. The Center is a cosponsor.

There is a general registration fee of $10/$5 for students. unPanel is a fun night of networking and idea-sharing featuring a series of six informal roundtable workshops led by local and regional experts. It is a unique professional development opportunity for artists and artist-entrepreneurs, including visual and performing artist, musicians, writers, designers, photographers, and anyone working in the creative fields. Discussion topics are tailored to fit the professional needs of artists and working creatives and are relevant to building and expanding any arts business.

 

Topics will include Creating Buzz: Refine Your Social Media Techniques and Tactics with Prof. David Gerzof of Emerson College, Social Media 101 with Paul R. Hutchinson of Hutchinson Consulting, DIY: Develop a Project Space with Garret Yahn and Kirk Amaral Snow of Lufthansa Studios, Make Yourself Heard: Press Kits for Musicians with Pete Lally  of Lowell Memorial Auditorium, Etsy How-To with Liz Smith of Made in Lowell, and G.U.T.S. : Gear, Utensils, Tools, and Stuff with Fish McGill of Harmonix.
