Special Film Event: "The Invention of Lying" Comes to The Old Court Thursday, February 18 at 7:00PM, The Old Court Irish Restaurant and Pub, 29 Central Street.  The City of Lowell was the center of attention in 2008 when the cast and crew of Ricky Gervais' "The Invention of Lying" filmed right here in the Mill City! Were YOU cast as an extra in the film or do you know someone who was? If so, come to The Old Court for this special community film screening. The Lowell Devils are teaming up with the Mary Kay Foundation to raise money for the fight against cancer at the Devils' 3rd Annual Ladies Night when the Devils host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 28 at the Tsongas Center. Tickets for Ladies Night are just $15!  Proceeds from every ticket sold through this offer will be donated to the Mary Kay Ash Foundation.

Music and History Celebrating African American Heritage Month Music and song played a powerful role in sharing and spreading the message of the abolition movement to the towns and villages of New England in the nineteenth century. Join a unique presentation of lecture, song, and pictures called "Singing for Freedom: The Music of the Antislavery Movement." The program looks broadly at the abolition movement use of music with a particular focus on a single group, the Hutchinson family singers, in spreading the messages of the abolition movement through song. The presenters are Dr. Scott Gac, Assistant Professor of History at Trinity College and Deborah Anne Goss, a historical performer and interpreter with the organization Solo Together. Please join the Young Professionals of Greater Lowell on Thursday, February 18th for their 3rd Annual Trivia Night at the Brewery Exchange, 201 Cabot Street 3rd Floor.  This is a great opportunity to test your wits and meet young professionals from the Greater Lowell area.  You can either come prepared with a team of four to six people or we'll help you find one at the event.  Food will be provided along with a cash bar.  The winning trivia team will receive a cash prize of at least $100.  Also, we will be raffling off two tickets to an upcoming Red Sox game (donated by the Lowell Five). Thursday, February 18, 5:30 PM (Trivia starts right at 6:00 PM) $10.00 with a bag of food / $15.00 without a bag of food.  Food will be donated to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, which is the non-profit agency that YPGL will be supporting in 2010.

The sweepstakes will officially run from February 21, 2010 to May 7, 2010 and will be conducted in the following manner:

pend $25 at a downtown retail or restaurant business and enter to win in a weekly drawing.The sweepstakes will occur over an 8-week period from February 21 to April 16; grand prize drawing on May 7.  Weekly prizes are either an iPod Touch or a season pass to the Lowell Summer Music Series (the prize will alternate each week); grand prize is an iPad.  Ballot boxes and entry forms will be made available at downtown businesses for easy submission.  Additional information, as well as rules and regulations, will be available on Lowell.org by Friday, February 19.  No purchase necessary to enter.
