Special Film Event: "The Invention of Lying" Comes to The Old Court Thursday, February 18 at 7:00PM, The Old Court Irish Restaurant and Pub, 29 Central Street.  The City of Lowell was the center of attention in 2008 when the cast and crew of Ricky Gervais' "The Invention of Lying" filmed right here in the Mill City! Were YOU cast as an extra in the film or do you know someone who was? If so, come to The Old Court for this special community film screening. Music and History Celebrating African American Heritage Month Music and song played a powerful role in sharing and spreading the message of the abolition movement to the towns and villages of New England in the nineteenth century. Join a unique presentation of lecture, song, and pictures called "Singing for Freedom: The Music of the Antislavery Movement." The program looks broadly at the abolition movement use of music with a particular focus on a single group, the Hutchinson family singers, in spreading the messages of the abolition movement through song. The presenters are Dr. Scott Gac, Assistant Professor of History at Trinity College and Deborah Anne Goss, a historical performer and interpreter with the organization Solo Together. The Whistler House Museum of Art is proud to collaborate with Lowell's Image Theater for a Valentine's weekend celebration of romance, wine and song. Boston cabaret artists Bobbi Carrey and Will McMillan will bring their acclaimed cabaret performance "If I Loved You" to the Parker Gallery accompanied by Doug Hammer on piano. Saturday, February 13th, with a cocktail reception at 7PM and a show at 8PM and Sunday, Feb 14th with cocktails at 2PM and a show at 3PM. The price of $59 a couple, $30 for single tickets includes: one hour of appetizers, white wine, champagne and cheese in the historic house before the show which runs about 90 minutes.
