The first Middle Eastern restaurant in the United States - Club Zara - opened in Boston in 1952. Because of the similarities in culture, cuisine and social life, the Lebanese, Greeks and Armenians (all of whom started settling here 100 years ago) began mingling at each other's restaurants. This was a phenomenon unique in the U.S. Aziza! is a documentary (pre-production) that offers a unique perspective on how three ethnic groups intermingled socially, and how nightlife played a vivid role in the immigrant experience of these communities. An 11-minute sampler of the documentary Aziza! will be shown at 9 p.m. Speakers will give a short introduction to the project. Vintage photographs and dance costumes, and related artwork will be on exhibit.

Calling all baseball fans...

The "Baseball Ball Toss Game" is looking for a new home. Completed by two local artists and Lowell High School graduates, T Stover and Toai Thach, it has been enjoyed by thousands of baseball fans in the Gator Pit of Edward A. LeLacheur Park. The game features depictions of several of the former Spinners who have gone onto success at the big league level, including the first -Wilton Veras and some of the more recent - Jonathan Papelbon and Jacoby Ellsbury. Also featured on the piece are LeLacheur Park legends such as the Dogman and Canaligator family. This year the Gator Pit is under redesign and the Ball Toss Game will need to be relocated. It is free to anyone who can take it. It measures 14' h x 8'w and weighs approximately 500 lbs. It can be disassembled for transport. If you are interested please contact ebates@revolvingmuseum.org.
