Welcome to the Friends of Western Avenue Studios Newsletter! We hope to keep you informed of the happenings in our burgeoning artist community.
Boston Chronicle comes to Western Ave!

WCVB TV's Boston "Chronicle" will be running a show about "Art Colonies" and features some of the artists at Western Avenue Studios.  Wednesday, April 14th 7:30 pm.

WAS Artist, Liz Smith, Appears on the Martha Stewart Show

On March 24th, our very own, Liz Smith, made an appearance on the Martha Stewart Show, where she taught Martha how to make polymer clay easter eggs. You can watch Liz's demonstration here:  http://www.marthastewart.com/article/polymer-clay-easter-eggs
 

Saturday Open Studios

Not just once or twice a year, but the first Saturday of every month Western Avenue Studios hosts Open Studios from Noon to 5 PM. Join the fun, and do your birthday or anniversary shopping at the same time!

April showcases the creativity of Tina Silverio in a new solo exhibit entitled "Glass: Please Handle with Care." This show explores several kilnforming techniques in order to create contemporary  pieces. The show runs from Friday, April 2nd through Sunday, April 25th, with a public dessert Opening Reception on Thursday, April 8th, from 6 pm - 9 pm. Friends of Western Avenue Studios, Inc. (FoWAS) is a non-profit corporation formed to promote the cultural enrichment and education of the public by:

  • Safeguarding affordable studio space for working artists and non-profits in perpetuity;
  • Fostering Western Avenue Studios artists' and non-profits' unique contributions to the arts community; and
