Greetings LSBAC Friend,

This month, we would like to congratulate a client who recently celebrated the opening of her small business. Leyla Al-Zubaydi and her family opened Babylon Restaurant in early June, serving delicious Middle Eastern food. The LSBAC worked closely with Leyla and her family, providing counseling and technical assistance as they went through the process of opening. The Al-Zubaydi family are recent arrivals from Uzbekistan, after leaving Iraq as refugees. With them they bring the traditional tastes of their native land.

The restaurant is located at 25 Merrimack Street in Downtown Lowell (978-710-4278). When you first walk in, one immediately gets the sense of being in a unique atmosphere. The walls are painted red and green, like the Iraqi flag and appeasing Middle Eastern music flows throughout as the smell of fresh food wafts past your nose. Be sure to stop by for lunch or dinner and mention that you read about their restaurant here in the LSBAC E-news.

Congratulations!

This month kicks off the Lowell Farmer's Market, so be sure to get out and support our local famers and their small businesses. The Market is every Friday in downtown Lowell from 2pm to 7pm at JFK Plaza. Learn more by clicking HERE .

This summer, the Center is putting together a September 2011 thru June 2012 calendar of trainings, workshops and seminars - so stay tuned and get ready to further your education and knowledge. But until then, check out our upcoming classes for July below!

Sincerely,

Stacie Hargis
Director
