The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD)announced changes to the Workforce Training Fund.
As of January 2011, Commonwealth Corporation - a state agency within the Labor and Workforce Secretariat - has assumed management of all general applications over $50,000. The EOLWD's Division of Career Services will continue management of the Workforce Training Fund Express Program and the Hiring Incentive Training Program.

The first round of applications for the Workforce Training Fund has just completed, however
Commonwealth Corporation will release another Request for Proposals in March, subject to funding availability. Information about the Requests for Proposals will be available on the Workforce Training Fund website and on the Commonwealth Corporation website.

GLWIB Assisting Local Companies Through Energy Sector Partnership

The GLWIB is conducting outreach to local companies interested in renewable energy/energy efficiency (RE/EE) training. We will work to help identify possible opportunities and funding resources available through the Energy Sector Partnership. In February, a local company began training funded through the grant and we are working to engage other companies.

Companies in the renewable energy/energy efficiency sectors are eligible for a variety of training programs including solar, weatherization, energy auditing, and many other green-related training and/or certificate programs as well as business development training. Companies in other sectors may also be eligible to participate in training through this grant, providing that the training is energy related. Contact Gail Brown, GLWIB Senior Program Manager, to find out how we can assist with your company's training needs.
