Stunning digital video and super8 footage weave together as the women’s voices carry the film, telling their stories of meeting lovers, the choices involved in moving to Italy, the expected and unexpected compromises, and the search for a comfortable balance. As the fantasy veneer of Mediterranean village life wears thin, and beauty recedes to inaccessibility, their own desires and senses of self are called into question, becoming mysterious even to themselves. Filmed entirely on location in Positano, Italy, Sospira had its World Premiere in 2011 at the Boston Center for the Arts and features a mesmerizing original score by Kevin Micka (aka Animal Hospital) and Chris Brokaw. (Film run time: 50 minutes) For more information on Lowell Women's Week, click here.
