Join the Lowell Folklife Series Friday, February 24, 2012 7:00 pm - 8:30 p.m. Park Visitor Center Theatre In honor of Black History Month, the Lowell Folklife Series invites you to an Afro-Caribbean workshop with a hint of Caribbean carnival. Jorge Arce is a percussionist, educator, and native of Ponce, Puerto Rico. This interactive workshop features music, dances, lore, and stories steeped in the African ancestry of Puerto Rican culture. The workshop will feature over 20 percussion instruments played throughout the Caribbean. A special treat will be two carnival masqueraders wearing typical masks of the season. Audience members will be guided to join in on rhythm instruments and dances during the show.
