Crane uses wood in ways that reference fiber -- bending and interlacing thin strips of cyprus and walnut to create airy, open forms. And tearing figured maple veneer into ribbons of energy. Stage departs from 2-D work to create sculpture with fiberous materials -- stringing multiple tie linings into sensual shapes. And ripping, bending and twisting fiberglass screening to become abstract forms. | | | | |
