UMass Lowell to Launch Universal Identification, Payment Card

Information Sessions on Aug. 18 for Merchants Interested in Accepting Card

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell is launching the new, all-purpose UCard this fall for students, faculty and staff.

 

The UCard will serve as an ID, payment card for on campus dining and provide access to campus parking lots and facilities. UCard users can deposit funds through UCa$h, allowing them to make purchases both on campus, such as at vending machines and laundry facilities, and at participating merchants around the area.

 

The university will host UCard information sessions for merchants interested in accepting the card on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. and from 3 to 4 p.m., in the MIL Conference Room, Wannalancit Mill Building, 600 Suffolk St., Lowell.  Merchants may choose to attend either meeting.

 

The university has partnered with Heartland Payment Systems Campus Solutions to implement the UCard program, powered by the Give Something Back Network. 

 

The UCard will be protected by the most secure technology available in the market today, ensuring the safety of users’ personal, account and transaction data. Any UCa$h funds on the UCard are FDIC-insured. If a card is lost or stolen, Heartland covers all non-pin based purchases and other purchases have coverage similar to VISA and other credit card policies.

 

Participating merchants will be promoted on the UCard Web site at www.uml.edu/UCard and receive window stickers to identify themselves as accepting the card at their locations.
