| | Jason Crigler Makes Guest Appearance at "Life. Support. Music."
| | In August 2004, Jason Crigler, one of New York City's most sought-after guitarists, suffered a brain hemorrhage during a concert in Manhattan. That night at the hospital, the doctors told Jason's family if he made it through the night, there wouldn't be much left of him. Refusing to accept the dark future described by doubtful doctors, the Criglers resolved to help Jason make a full recovery through the thing he treasured most: MUSIC. Please join us as we welcome Jason Crigler himself for a guest appearance and musical performance following this very special screening of "Life. Support. Music.", a chronicle of Jason's recovery and the courage and hope he received from his family and friends. This event is presented by Moses Greeley Parker Lectures in partnership with the Lowell Film Collaborative, and is a part of the Arts League of Lowell's Healing Art programming. | | A three-channel video projection, Make a Wish by Denis Dumas combines images of thunder storms and water with an accompanying soundtrack of voiced concerns to envelop the gallery in an electrical storm of uncertainty. Watery surfaces spill with a myriad of visions that form a layered collage of contemporary troubles. Mixing real and virtual imagery, Dumas creates multiple points of view that redefine domestic, political, ecological, social, and economic ideas.
Dumas' installation is intended to empower us eliciting our resolve in the face of real and conjured threats. Like the artist, we are to summon our own sense of individual identity as a rudder to navigate through confusing circumstances and environments.

| Anne Dudley Bradstreet, who was born in England in 1612 and spent much of her life living in Andover, MA, is widely believed to be the first North American poet. In anticipation of the 400 year anniversary of her birth, several cultural institutions from Andover and North Andover will celebrate her life and work with a performance of poetry and music titled "To My Dear Children: An Afternoon with Mistress Anne Dudley Bradstreet and the Essex Chamber Music Players." What does it take to get housing that's good for our children? What does it take to build a community where we want to live? Does it take a movement? During the 1920s, thousands of immigrant factory workers managed to build cooperative apartment houses that they owned and ran themselves. When they were hit by the Great Depression, they fought alongside others to win the social safety net that we are now in danger of losing. The film "At Home in Utopia" tells their story. Presented in partnership with UMass Lowell, Lowell National Historical Park, and the Lowell Film Collaborative, with support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. | | | New Exhibit Opens at the NEQM | | The New England Quilt Museum is excited to announce their new exhibition of international art quilts: Masters: 40 Contemporary Master Quilters, opening Nov., 19. Masters explores the cutting edge of art quilting, with today's most regarded global quilt artists represented in this comprehensive exhibition.
